Mike Bengtson’s journey in the fencing industry is a testament to dedication, hard work, and visionary growth. Mike’s enduring commitment to quality craftsmanship and top-tier customer service was instilled in him at a very young age, as Mike’s father, Larry, got his career started in the fencing industry in 1971. Throughout Larry’s career in the industry, he was able to open and run two successful fence companies in the Midwest. One in Davenport, Iowa and another in Somerset, Wisconsin, where he resided. Beginning his career as a teenager, Mike worked alongside his father at their family-owned businesses. It was there that he honed his skills and developed the love, commitment, and dedication needed to be an unrivaled competitor in the industry.
Mike's ambition led to the successful expansion of his career by opening his own fence company in Iowa, Quality Fence & Deck, in 1989. Through long hours and dedication, the Iowa company grew and in 1995, Mike relocated to Loves Park IL to open a division there. Recognizing new opportunities, he sold the Iowa branch to a partner, focusing entirely on building his Illinois operations which flourished under his guidance. This decision ultimately culminated in his acquisition of Rock Valley Fence in the year 2000. Rock Valley Fence, established in 1978, had solid roots in the Stateline area. It was a respected & well known, but struggling company. Through unwavering dedication, Mike revitalized the company, channeling his expertise and time into making it not only a trusted but also a solvent local leader.
